The focus of this Information
Literacy video is Discovery.
Not just the word, but the process you go through to find, assess and use
information.
Define – Who, what, when, where, why and how?
Inquire – Look beyond traditional sources
Search – Go beyond Google, try meta-search engines such as Dogpile
Collect
Organise
Verify – Check the author, publisher, contact info, last
modified, web address
Express – Share what you have learned
Reflect – How would you have done it differently?
This video made a lot of sense to me.
It is an excellent way to work out how to find and use information and to
determine the authority and accuracy of it.
I consider myself to be fairly
information literate, but there is always more to learn! There are a lot of
people out there in the nameless, faceless web trying to fool you...
